Laundry tips

Before doing laundry sort out the white and coloured clothes and soak them separately.

Brighten Colors with Salt

Hard water can cause clothes to become dull after several washings. Add a couple of pinches of ordinary table salt while soaking clothes to solve this problem.

Stain Removal

Juice, Wine & Soft Drinks Stains
Removing juice stains can be done by quickly rinsing with cool water. Don't use detergent on the stain - it will set it and make it impossible to remove. Instead, use white vinegar and blot to remove.

Coffee, Tea stains
Presoak item in detergent with bleach in hot water and then wash.

Cosmetics
Dampen stain and rub with liquid detergent. Rinse, then wash.

Blood stains
Rinse fresh blood stains in cold running water and rub with soap. Repeat. For dried stains, first scrape or rub off as much dried blood as possible. Soak in warm water with bleach. In the case of stubborn stains, rust removers may be helpful.

White Socks
Presoak in detergent solution for a minimum of 30 minutes and then wash

Food Coloring
Soak in cool water. If stain remains, rub on detergent and rinse. Wash.

Mud
Brush off as much as possible when garment is dry, then rinse under cold running water. Pretreat with a paste of powder detergent and water, or liquid laundry detergent. Wash using laundry detergent and a fabric-safe bleach.
